Digitizing the Bulb Chain
The digitization of the bulb chain is set to receive a new boost. The flower bulb sector intends to make digital registration of deliveries mandatory in 2021. Now is the time to further expand the automation process already underway in the bulb sector.
Van Dooren Transport & Forwarding has been approached to brainstorm various possible scenarios, including the pros and cons and potential challenges we may face. We are, of course, open to collaborating on ways to connect the sector digitally with clear agreements and uniform standards at the lowest possible cost.
A step in the right direction
For Van Dooren Transport & Forwarding, digitizing the flower bulb supply chain is a great step in the right direction. Our customers know that we already have above-average automation, including digital integrations with our customers' internal systems. We also have the Van Dooren Transport APP, where customers and our customers can book orders, view shipment statuses, and track and trace shipments free of charge. Furthermore, we provide daily digital updates to the sector (loading and unloading partners) regarding shipment ETAs and packaging transactions for the next business day. Connecting the entire sector would truly drive efficiency.
Paperless Transport
Further digitization of the flower supply chain paves the way for the implementation of the digital consignment note. Transfollow could be a valuable partner in this endeavor. Transfollow is the standard for the digital consignment note. The standard was developed for and by the market. The result: continuous, real-time insight into the status of every digital consignment note.
We will keep you informed of developments on this page.
