On Friday, April 11, 2014, the musical De Zwarte Tulp (The Black Tulip) will premiere in a theater specially designed for this purpose. This beautiful story, based on Alexander Dumas' bestseller, is set in the Netherlands during the Golden Age, when the Netherlands was still a world power.

   

In the beautiful, partly projected scenery, you see how a young and ambitious tulip grower is the first to try to grow a black tulip and has the chance to earn a fortune with it.

He becomes entangled in a web of jealousy and betrayal and is eventually imprisoned in Teylingen Castle. There he falls in love with the jailer's daughter. Together they try to grow the Black Tulip.

The audience witnesses a thrilling finale in Haarlem, where love, ambition, and freedom are at stake.
