April 15, 2013 – Starting May 1, 2013, Van Dooren Transport will take over flower bulb transport from J. Bakker & Zn in Egmond Binnen.

This acquisition has enabled Van Dooren to increase its coverage in flower bulb transport in Heemskerk, Limmen, Egmond, and Bergen. The company now covers the entire coastal strip from Middelburg to Den Helder. This acquisition is also a welcome addition to Van Dooren's logistics activities.

Below is the letter sent by J. Bakker & Zn. to its business relations.

After more than 65 years of transporting flower bulbs, we regret to inform you that we have transferred this branch of our business to Van Dooren Transport in Hillegom and Breezand.

Thanks in part to you, our company has specialized in flower bulb transport, which we have always done with great pleasure and dedication. It was therefore a difficult decision to transfer this branch of transport to a fellow transporter.

We did not choose Van Dooren lightly. They are the specialists in flower bulb transport and can offer even better quality and service than J.Bakker & Zn B.V. With their two branches in Hillegom and Breezand, they serve the entire coastal region. In Hillegom, they have a climate-controlled storage and transshipment warehouse of 5000 m2 equipped with 10 docks. Here, small shipments are collected and delivered to the relevant customer in one go, which improves efficiency for Van Dooren, the grower, and also the exporter, who has fewer trucks on their premises.

We are therefore confident that the collaboration with Van Dooren is the best choice for the future, both for us and certainly for you.

Jan Bakker will continue on his own and intends to focus on the international transport of steel and general cargo with a limited number of trucks. He will also continue to assist Van Dooren during the bulb season, so you will still see J. Bakker's trucks on the road regularly.

Finally, we would like to thank you for the many years of pleasant cooperation and the trust you have placed in us.

Stay informed
